Mock vote hits the road in Lafourche

Lafourche Parish voters have a new tool to help make the voting process easier. The Lafourche Parish Registrar of Voters has launched a new Web site, www.lafourcheregistrarofvoters. org.

Registrar Sterling C. Diaz said the site includes information concerning registration, voter drives and elections, as well as answers to frequently asked questions and links to state and government agencies.

Next week, Aug. 27-31, in celebration of the agency’s annual Voter Education Week, Diaz and his staff will conduct a mock election designed to teach voters to use the new voting machines.

Informational packets on “Protecting Your Vote” and “Facts about Voting and Registration” will also be distributed.

The traveling mock election/informational session will be held:

Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Lockport Public Library, 518 6th St., Lockport, from 10 a.m. to noon;

Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the Bayou Blue Public Library, 198 Mazerac St., Bayou Blue, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Galliano Public Library, Old Wal- Mart Shopping Center, Galliano, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 31, at Rouse’s Epicurean, North Canal Boulevard, Thibodaux, from 9 to 11 a.m.
