A Morgan City man was seriously injured in a single-car crash Tuesday on La. 1010, according to state police.

Trooper First Class Rodney Hyatt reported in a news release that Brian Blanchard, 50, was hurt after his 1988 Chevrolet Caprice left the road and struck a culvert along La. 1010. He said Blanchard, who was traveling along, failed to negotiate a curve, which caused the crash around 11:30 p.m.

Acadian Ambulance transported the Morgan City man to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Hyatt said Blanchard was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.

Because alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, Hyatt said blood was drawn from Blanchard at the hospital. It was forwarded to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for testing, he said.

Charges are pending in the wreck; Trooper Larvadain is investigating the incident.
