All classes and campus activities, including Nicholls Online, are canceled from 5 p.m. today through Monday. The university will be closed from noon on Saturday through Monday. Essential personnel will report to campus on Monday after the storm has cleared our area to assess damage to campus.
No individual will be allowed into campus buildings after noon on Saturday.
Campus residents who are unable to leave will be evacuated to Louisiana Tech by bus at noon on Saturday. The Cafeteria will remain open until noon on Saturday.

Dear Nicholls Community,
The National Hurricane Center now projects Hurricane Ida to become a major hurricane before landfall. All classes and campus activities, including Nicholls Online, are canceled from 5 p.m. today through Monday. The university will be closed from noon on Saturday through Monday. Essential personnel will report to campus on Monday after the storm has cleared our area to assess damage to campus.
Some local government officials have announced mandatory evacuations. Students, faculty and staff living in those areas may need to begin storm preparations before close of business today.
We ask that all faculty and staff Complete Phase 3 hurricane preparations before you leave today. That includes preparing your office by moving items away from windows, unplugging and covering all computer equipment and removing any items you will need. Campus telephones should remain plugged in. No individual will be allowed into campus buildings after noon on Saturday.

Current models forecast impact to our region as early as Saturday evening. We are forecast to experience high wind and heavy rainfall. Expect power outages, downed trees and flooding. Please refer to the university’s Hurricane Emergency Plan, posted at nicholls.edu/hurricane, to prepare our campus for storm impact.
