On Wednesday, for the first National Signing Day of the Class of 2021, head coach Tim Rebowe announced eight new Colonels — and they are all from Louisiana.

Five of the signees are coming from high school: quarterback Collin Guggenheim, running back TyShaun Hester, wide receiver Dany’e Brooks, wide receiver Jaden Tyler and defensive lineman Elinus Noel III. Hester, a native of Houma, is a senior at Ellender High School.

The three Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) transfers include defensive lineman Juan Monjarres, wide receiver Al’Dontre Davis and offensive lineman Titus Jones. Although the Southland Conference season has been postponed to February, only Monjarres and Davis are eligible to play in the spring.

“Rebowe, who has led Nicholls to back-to-back Southland Conference championships and a third consecutive trip to the FCS playoffs, continues to build the program with local recruits,” reads an article by geauxcolonels.com “The Colonels have had the most Louisiana players in Division I football by a sizable margin the last few seasons and have 103 on this season’s active roster.”

The Colonels’ season is currently set to kickoff against Lamar at home on Feb. 27, but they are looking to add a game for the week before then.
