Houma Police are looking for man who approached a vehicle Thursday and fired six shots into the air before running off toward Levron Street, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to area at 6:49 p.m. after a caller notified police about a large disturbance possibly involving a gun. When officers arrived, the learned that two men had been arguing in a small, white Plymouth two-door car parked at the corner of Columbus and Hobson streets. The women had been standing near the vehicle, police said.

As the men argued, a black man wearing black shirts and no shirt walked up to the group and fired approximately six shots into the air, police said. The car drove off toward Canal Street; the shooter reportedly ran through the yard of a residence on Levron Street.

Officers patrolled the area but didn’t find the shooter or the Plymouth. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at (985) 873-6371.
