A Raceland man will serve 22 years in prison for a distribution of cocaine conviction, according to a news release issued by the Lafourche District Attorney’s Office.

A jury found Frederick Reed, 43, guilty of distributing cocaine on Sept. 27. It was his second drug conviction; Reed’s first violation was in 1990, according to District Attorney Camille Morvant.

State District Judge F. Hugh Larose could have sentenced the Raceland man up to 30 years in jail on the charge.

“I hope this sentence sends a clear message that drug activity will not be tolerated in Lafourche Parish,” said Assistant District Attorney Peter Rousse, who, along with Assistant District Attorney Martin Caillouet, prosecuted the case in Larose’s courtroom.
