Rear Admiral Mary Landry, Commander of the Eight Coast Guard District, will be the guest speaker at Restore or Retreat’s annual meeting March 31st.

Landry’s keynote address, titled “BP Oil Spill and Coast Guard Issues,” will begin at noon. The meeting’s lunch buffet will be served at 11:30 a.m.


Landry served as the Federal On-Scene Coordinator for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill from April 22 to June 1, and as commander of the eighth district, she oversees sections of 26 states.

Restore or Retreat Executive Director Simone Maloz said Landry will talk about the Coast Guard’s role in the spill clean-up, the impact the spill had on business at Port Fourchon and how the Coast Guard is intertwined in south Louisiana industry.
