The Louisiana State Capitol will be closed on Wednesday due to possible protests coinciding with President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, according to multiple reports.

According to a memo from the Louisiana House speaker and Senate president obtained by The Advocate, the building will be closed on Jan. 20 “out of an abundance of caution regarding the unknowns of the federal inauguration.”

U.S. Capitol invaders attempted to halt the certification of the 2020 Presidential Election on Jan, 6 as they chanted “stop the steal” — based on unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud. Elected officials were forced to stop proceedings due to safety concerns; however, Congress later reconvened after the building was cleared and certified the election.

More than 125 people have been arrested so far in connection with what authorities are calling an insurrection, according to reports. The incident resulted in five deaths.

According to reports, small groups of protesters gathered outside the Capitol building in Baton Rouge over the weekend to object to the election. The demonstrations remained peaceful, reports say.
