Restore or Retreat hosts annual meeting

Restore or Retreat will hold its Annual Board of Directors and General Membership Meeting Friday, March 12.

Envie Restaurant in Thibodaux will host the event, which will begin with a buffet at 11:30 a.m. The program itself will begin at noon, featuring guest speaker Garret Graves, Chairman of the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and Director of Louisiana’s Office of Coastal Activities.

“This year we were lucky enough to get Garret Graves, who is [Governor] Jindal’s senior coastal advisor and the go to guy in the state for state and federal coastal restoration projects,” said Restore or Retreat spokesperson Simone Theriot Maloz. “So we’re looking forward to an update from him.”

Both of Graves’ organizations are responsible for integrating hurricane protection, storm damage reduction, flood control, coastal protection and restoration efforts and associated infrastructure construction and maintenance in Louisiana.

Theriot Maloz said the program should last less than one hour, and she expects about 75-100 people to attend.

“We have one formal meeting every year to just update members in the community about what we’ve been up to, some of our priories and some of the things we’ll be doing in the next year,” said Theriot Maloz.

The program is open to the public, but reservations are required. The reservation costs $20 if it is paid for in advance and $25 if it is paid for at the door.

Although the reservation deadline was Tuesday, March 9, Theriot Maloz said they will be able to accommodate some at the door who were unable to make one.
