Authorities continue to investigate what led a 28-year-old Houma man to bludgeon to death his father’s girlfriend last Wednesday.

Chad Breaux, 28, of 109 Laura Lynn Lane, drove to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office where he confessed to murdering Jeannie Marie Breaux, 38, in the living room of the mobile home the two shared along with his father.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Captain Malcolm Wolfe said Lafourche detectives contacted his agency around 3 p.m. to alert local detectives of the crime.

According to Wolfe, the detectives said Chad Breaux arrived at their office saying he’d killed the woman at the trailer.

When Terrebonne Parish detectives arrived at the scene, Lafourche Parish deputies had secured the crime scene, Wolfe noted.

Inside the living room of the mobile home, detectives found the body of Jeannie Breaux. Earlier, a family member discovered the body, Wolfe said.

Chad Breaux was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for questioning, the captain said. There, he told detectives he had struck the woman in the head with a blunt object. Wolfe said Jeannie Breaux had severe injuries on her head and face.

Breaux now faces second-degree murder charges, and is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond.

Hours earlier, on Tuesday, Terrebonne Parish deputies had responded to a domestic disturbance at the trailer, Wolfe said.

Citing information in the responding deputy’s report, Wolfe said Chad Breaux was causing problems at the residence and was asked to leave. He left deputies without incident, only to return sometime Wednesday to kill his father’s girlfriend.

Wolfe said Chad Breaux had been living with his father Dean Breaux and Jeannie Breaux for about two months.

Authorities are asking anyone with information concerning the investigation to contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office detective bureau.

Wednesday’s murder was not Chad Breaux’s first run-in with authorities, Wolfe said. The Houma man has previously been arrested for simple arson, simple battery, aggravated assault and resisting an officer.
