Houma Police are arrested the ex-husband of a 26-year-old woman after he allegedly illegally entered her home Tuesday morning and assaulted her.
When authorities arrived at the woman’s home in the 1100 block of Laban Avenue in East Houma, they found her laying on the living room floor crying hysterically.
The woman told officers her soon-to-be ex-husband Roger L. Jones, 26, of 107 Friendship Lane, Amelia, had attacked her and then fled.
According to police reports, the woman was asleep when Jones, who still has a key to the residence, entered the home. A restraining order is in effect ordering Jones to stay away from the woman or her home, police said.
Jones allegedly punched the woman in the head several times, authorities said. Moderate bruises were visible on the woman’s head; she was treated at Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center.
Police arrested Jones later that morning at his job site on Clendenning Road. He was charged with violating the protective order, aggravated burglary, domestic abuse battery and aggravated sexual battery. He is being held at the Terrebonne Parish Jail.
