Four suspects are in custody this week after the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after deputies found the men to be in possession of thousands of dollars worth of illegal narcotics.

Terrebonne Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said that on Saturday at approximately 6 p.m., deputies were flagged down by a citizen who advised them that four black males in a white 2006 Chevy truck pulled a handgun on him and threatened harm on the victim.

Upon receiving the information, deputies located the vehicle at the intersection of St. Charles Street and La. Highway 311. After initiating a traffic stop, deputies said the driver of the vehicle, Decoby Maurice Henderson, 18, lunged from the vehicle and jumped into a nearby bayou.

Deputies and officers from the Houma Police were called and they pulled Henderson from the bayou and placed him under arrest.

Authorities at the scene of the pullover located a 9-MM pistol from the car and placed arrests on the three passengers in the vehicle, identified as Johnny Gray, 17, Zavery Gaither, 18, and Melvin North, 22.

During the investigation, deputies recovered the following items from the suspect’s possession:

• 60 XTC pills with various imprints packaged for suspected distribution purposes

• Approximately 4.5 grams of crack cocaine valued at $900

• Approximately 1,088.6 grams of fresh marijuana packaged for suspected distribution purposes valued at $6,531.60

• $762 in United States paper currency

• Cobra 9-MM pistol

• A digital scale

• Plastic bags for distribution packaging

All four suspects were taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail. They were each charged with possession with intent to distribute XTC, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and illegal proceeds derived from drug transactions.
