Parish President


Gordon “Gordy” Dove will serve as the next Terrebonne Parish President after winning Saturday’s election. Dove, a Republican, has spent the last 12 years as District 52 State Representative. He defeated Terrebonne Parish Councilman and fellow Republican Daniel “Danny” Babin in the election with 60 percent of the total 22,399 votes cast.

Dove will assume the office of Michel Claudet, who is term-limited after serving the last eight years as parish president. Dove will be inaugurated along with the new parish council on Jan. 7 at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center.

Parish Council District 1


John Navy won re-election to his seat as District 1 Council Member with 64 percent of the vote. Navy, a Democrat, defeated fellow Democrats Alvin Tillman and Daniel Turner in the election.

Navy will enter his second term representing District 1. He is currently the chairman of the council’s Budget and Finance Committee.

Parish Council District 2


Arlanda J. Williams will continue representing District 2 in the Terrebonne Parish Council after winning re-election on Saturday. Williams, a Democrat, defeated Noble “Pat” Patterson, also a Democrat, with 69 percent of the vote.

Williams is currently in her second term as Parish Council Member. She is the first woman to be elected chair of the parish council. Her upcoming term will be her final term representing District 2 due to term limits.

Parish Council District 3


The election for District 3 Council Member will go to a run-off between Republicans Greg Hood, Sr. and Gerald Michel. Michel won 43 percent of the vote, Hood won 40 percent, while Republican Shari Champagne pulled in 17 percent.

Michel is a local businessman and Houma native. Incumbent Hood is a retired HPD captain and currently in his first term representing District 3. The run-off election will take place on Nov. 17.

Parish Council District 4


Scotty Dryden will represent District 4 in the Terrebonne Parish Council for the next four years after winning Saturday’s election. Dryden, a Republican, defeated fellow Republican Darryel Tippett with 78 percent of the vote.

Dryden will take the seat vacated by Beryl Amedee, who ran for the District 51 State Representative spot. Dryden, an assistant principal at Terrebonne High School, will assume office on January 7.

Parish Council District 5


The race to represent District 5 in the Terrebonne Parish Council will go to a run-off on Nov. 17. Christa Duplantis-Prather will face off against Christopher “Chris” Domangue in the runoff. Duplantis-Prather, other party member, won 44 percent of the vote while Republican Domangue garnered 37 percent of the vote. John Pizzolatto, also Republican, won 19 percent of the vote.

Duplantis-Prather is in seeking her fifth term in Parish Council, having previously represented District 4 from 1996 to 2004 before representing District 5 for the last eight years. Domangue, a financial planner and member of the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce, is seeking his first term as Parish Council Member.

Parish Council District 6


District 6 in Terrebonne Parish will have a new council member after incumbent Russell “Red” Hornsby failed to make the run-off. Republicans Clyde F. Hamner and Darrin Guidry will face off for the council seat. Hamner received 33 percent of the vote while Guidry won 31 percent. Republican Angi Falgout won 20 percent of the vote while Hornsby, also Republican, won 16 percent.

Hamner is a former administrator for the Terrebonne Parish School District and Guidry is a commissioner on the Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District. The run-off is on Nov. 17.

Parish Council District 7


Republicans “Al” Marmande and Matt Webb will vie for the District 7 seat in a run-off after a crowded primary. Marmande earned 39 percent of the vote while Webb came in second at 18 percent. The two are facing off to replace Danny Babin, who ran in the parish president race.

John Silver III, no party, came in third with 14 percent of the vote, while Guy Waalk, also no party, won 12 percent. Democrat Robert Champagne, Jr. earned 10 percent of the vote, and Nathan Trosclair, whose party is listed as other, won seven percent.

Parish Council District 8


Dirk Guidry will continue serving as District 8 Council Member in Terrebonne Parish after winning re-election in a two-man race on Saturday. Guidry, a Democrat, defeated Peter “Pete” Rhodes, no party, with 52 percent of the vote.

Guidry will enter his second term representing District 8. He and Rhodes previously squared off in 2011, with Guidry defeating Rhodes in a run-off with 53 percent of the vote.

Parish Council District 9


Steve Trosclair will be the new Terrebonne Parish District 9 Council Member after winning the seat on Saturday. Trosclair defeated fellow Republican Vincent Kreamer in a two-man race, with Trosclair winning 60 percent of the vote.

Trosclair will assume take over for Democrat Pete Lambert, who is term-limited. Trosclair begins his term on January 7.
