Along with standard agenda items, tonight’s meeting of the Terrebonne Parish council is expected to offer approval of the following resolutions:

  • An application will be made to the Louisiana Bond Commission for the authorization and issuance of more than $11.7 million in public improvement bonds. Revenue from these bonds would be used for public works and capital improvements.
  • Approval is being sought for the application of grant funds from the Federal Highway Administration Recreation Trails Program for Louisiana for the establishment of a 51-mile bicycle route along Bayou Black Drive. An 80/20 matching grant would offer up to $100,000 for this project.
  • Council members want to call for a ballot issue during the election on Oct. 22 that would allow voters to decide upon a proposition that would provide an additional homestead exemption for certain disabled veterans and their surviving spouses.
  • Authorization is expected to allow negotiation and execution of an intergovernmental agreement between the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government and various agencies including the Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District for the permitting of Reaches K and L of the Morganza to the Gulf Project. This would also make provisions for related matters.

The Terrebonne Parish Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the 2nd Flood council meeting room of the government tower in Houma.
