Terrebonne Parish is handing out sandbags with Hurricane Harvey churning in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Terrebonne Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness sent out a press release this afternoon saying that the parish is watching Harvey closely and will stay alert throughout the next few days to ensure the safety of the people in the area.

The Terrebonne Public Works Division has placed sandbags at the following locations:

  • Adult Softball Complex at the Airbase
  • Cannata’s West
  • Knights of Columbus Hall in Pointe-Aux-Chenes
  • Upper Dularge Fire Station
  • Bayou Black Fire Station
  • Ward 7 in Chauvin
  • West Terrebonne East Fire Station
  • West Terrebonne Central Fire Station

The parish is also offering up to 30 sandbags per person at the Public Works Yard (near Shannon Hardware) at 1860 Grand Caillou Road. Those services will be offered today and tomorrow from noon-5:30 p.m.
