In their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the Terrebonne Parish School Board approved millage rates for the 2023 tax roll for Regular School Tax (Constitutional) and Special School Tax (Maintenance) on all properties subject to taxation by the school board. Read the following recommendation below:

  • “The [Finance, Insurance, and Section 16 Lands Committee] recommends that the Board approve and adopt the following resolution adopting the millage rate(s) for the Regular School Tax (Constitutional) and the Special School Tax (Maintenance) of the entire school system, effective for 2023:
    • Regular School Tax (Constitutional): 3.86 mills
    • Special School Tax (Maintenance): 5.41 mills
  • Be it further resolved that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Terrebonne, State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized, and directed to spread said taxes, as herein above set forth, upon the assessment roll of said Parish for the year 2023, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by the law.”

Board Member Ford made a brief comment before the vote. “I just want to say, for the record and for all those watching, that this is the millage that has been set forth for years,” explained Ford. “Each year, we have the option of collecting the full amount of a lesser amount, and in this case we are electing to collect the full amount.” The resolution was passed with no opposition.
