The following is a rundown of the action taken by the Terrebonne Parish School at its regularly scheduled May 1 meeting. All board members were present. All votes were unanimous.


• Designated May 20-26, 2007 as Educational Bosses Week.

• Authorized a professional request leave for Sheri Neil and Gerry Himel, area managers in the Child Nutrition Department to attend a five-day seminar in Oxford, Miss.


• Authorized for Montegut Middle School employees to attend the 2007 ninth annual Nuts and Bolts Symposium of Middle Level Education in Destin, Fla. The list includes: Assistant Principal Deborah Allemand and teachers Cally Chauvin, Tracy Dorsey, Elizabeth Hebert, Michelle Lapeyrouse, Mary Lynn Levron, Lisa Martin, Iris Naquin, Ruby Pirtle, Jennifer Pitre, Cynthia Trosclair, Gayle Wesley and Barbara White.


• Approved for the following Terrebonne Parish educators to attend the 2007 Summer Institute on Student Progress Monitoring in Nashville, Tenn. The list includes: H.L. Bourgeois High School’s Assistant Principal Mary Oliver and teacher Dwayne Adams; Oakshire Elementary School teachers Michelle Chiasson and Natalie Price; Evergreen Junior High School teachers Lisa Haydel and Andrea Lotz; Lisa Park School teacher Rick Portier; Houma Junior High School teacher Cindy Hunter; Education Technology Facilitator Margaret Templet; Instructional Technology Specialist Bernadette Mabile and Network System Administrator Christopher Babin.

• Decreased the contract price for the Vocational-Technical High School roof project by $52,500.


• Increased the contract price for the Pointe-Aux-Chenes Elementary School roof project by $8,020.

• Approved the contract agreement for The Merlin Group LTD to proceed with plans for the Terrebonne High School running track renovation and the tennis court replacement.

• Approved bids received from A to Z Company, $243,162; AFP Industries, $8,238; American International Sales Corp., $839; Bye-Mo’r Inc, $37,048; Dick Blick, $21,884; David Marx Co., $1,352; Economic Janitorial and Paper Supply, $10,867; Elgin School Supply Company Inc., $1,461; Hammons and Stephens, $325; Pyramid Paper Company, $57,939; Quill Corporation, $13,581; Sam’s Club, $1,612; Standard Stationery Supply, $27,857; Unity Education Resources, $196; Video Service of America, $763 and Windtree Enterpises Inc., $496for teaching material and supplies.

• Approved O’Reilly Auto Parts’ $47,848 bid for the automotive shop equipment for the Vocational-Technical High School.

• Accepted Volute Inc.’s in the amount of $95,700 bid to replace the auditorium air-handling unit at Terrebonne High School.

• Accepted MCS Software LLC’s $132,650 rate for the Child Nutrition Management Software.

• Agreed to advertise for bids on meats, frozen items, bread, milk, fruit juice, canned goods, dry goods, supplies and disposables items.
