The Terrebonne Parish School Board took the following action at its Aug. 7 meeting. All members were present, and all votes were unanimously approved unless otherwise noted.


• Appointed Special Education personnel: Michelle Levett, qualified examiner-social worker; Rebecca Bradford, qualified examiner-educational facilitator; and Laura Champagne, qualified examiner-school psychologist.


• Appointed Michael Eunice the director of instrumental music at Evergreen Junior High School.

• Accepted Volute, Inc.’s $439,700 bid for boiler replacements at Houma Junior High School and Oakshire, Mulberry and Dularge Elementary schools.


• Accepted Edward J. Laperouse Metal Work, Inc.’s bid of $154,453 to re-roof Bayou Black Elementary School.


• Agreed to advertise for bids on three vehicles for the maintenance department. Board member Roger Dale DeHart opposed the measure.

• Submitted Terrebonne High School principal Douglas Graham and Terrebonne Vocational Technical High School principal Marcel Fournier as possible representatives from Terrebonne Parish School Board to the Terrebonne Economic Development Board.


• Agreed to have Superintendent Ed Richard and his designee negotiate a new one-year lease at 252 Barrow St. with Mary Menduni, representing CM Associates, at a monthly rate of $600.

• Agreed to have the superintendent and his designee negotiate a new one-year lease with Le Petit de Terrebonne, Inc., at a monthly rate of $325.

• Approved a professional leave of absence for Stephen Mire, SER, coordinator in special education, to attend the National Alliance for Medicaid and Education Conference in Minneapolis, Minn.

• Approved sabbatical leaves of absence for Carolyn Elkins, a teacher at Grand Calliou Middle School, and Chequita Martin, a teacher at Ellender Memorial High School.

• Approved a sabbatical waiver to return to work for Sidney Rhodes, a teacher at Ellender Memorial High School, to be eligible for retirement due to medical reasons.

• Approved leaves of absence without pay for Julie Blanchard, a teacher at Evergreen Junior High School; Christine Thomas, a teacher at Village East School, and Vonnie Olivier, a school bus driver.

• Approved family and medical leaves of absence for Catherine White, a teacher at Grand Calliou Middle School, and Karen Solet, a special education paraprofessional at East Houma Elementary School.

• Approved a military leave of absence for Jarod Martin, assistant principal at Evergreen Junior High School.
