Texas man killed in Morgan City

Morgan City police are investigating a crash early Sunday that claimed the life of a Texas man.

According to Captain Glenn Blanco, the vehicle driven by the deceased man was traveling west on the Greenwood Overpass when, for reasons unknown, it cross the center line and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Brian Gaskins, of Amelia.

Gaskins was treated at Teche Regional Medical Center for minor injuries, Blanco said.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. Blood tests are being conducted at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.

As of press time Monday, the family of the Texas man had not been contacted and his name was not released.
