Thibodaux Heights subdivision is the latest recipient of a new playground.

The “Little Tykes” playground set was purchased at a 40 percent discount through Integrity Recreation. The price cut was part of the company’s ongoing effort to help rebuild Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

A basketball court was built in the subdivision over the summer. It extends over five lots. And, according to Lafourche Parish’s Departments of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities, plans are in the works to build a small pavilion with a picnic table adjacent to the basketball court before year’s end.

The equipment was purchased with a federal grant obtained with the help of Sen. Mary Landrieu.

The grant also funded a basketball court at Thibodaux’s Abby Plantation Estates Subdivision, picnic pavilions at the Bayou Blue Recreational grounds and improvements to the Lockport Senior Center, officials said.
