The Volunteers of America are working to assist support personnel in their efforts to file claims related to the BP Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill.

“If you are a waitress, cook or deckhand, process plant worker, if you work in the seafood, restaurant or hotel industry and have experienced a loss in wages, cut in hours, or have lost your job, you may qualify for assistance,” VOA spokeswoman Linda Henderson said in a news release.

Volunteer of America go to those requesting assistance in compiling the proper documents that are required to successfully file a claim with the Gulf Coast Claims Facility.

A VOA representative can be reached by calling (985) 868-8900.
