A registration deadline for the 2012 election season is approaching. So, registrars of voters in the Tri-parish region have issued a reminder that voting age residents who are not already active must register by Oct. 9 to participate in the Nov. 6 presidential election and congressional primary. This registration deadline includes new registrants as well as individuals with changes of name or address.


New applicants for registration must be 18 years of age on or before Nov. 6, a resident of their respective Louisiana parish and a citizen of the United States.

Naturalized citizens and those born outside the United States. They must present naturalization papers or a birth certificate in person at the registrar’s office when applying for voter registration.


The Terrebonne Parish Registrar of Voters office is located on the first floor of the Courthouse Annex Building near the ground-floor entrance at Goode and School streets.


In Lafourche Parish voter registration can be made at 307 W. Fourth St. in Thibodaux, or at 16421 E. Main St. in Cut Off.

St. Mary Parish residents may register to vote at 301 Third St. in Morgan City or 500 Main St. in Franklin.


All registrar of voter office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To sign on at the registrar of voters office proper identification is required and includes a current Louisiana driver’s license, birth certificate or other documentation which reasonably establishes the applicant’s identity, age and residency.

Voter registration is also offered when applying for a Louisiana driver’s license. Applications for registration may be picked up at any public library, completed and mailed or hand delivered to the registrar of voters.

Applications may also be obtained online at the website www.geauxvote.com. The application may be printed and mailed to the registrar of voters office or submitted electronically if applicant has a current Louisiana driver’s license.

Registered voters are encouraged to check their status at www.geauxvote.com. The web site also offers information on voting locations, sample ballots, and candidate information.

Past voters with a status of “inactive” should contact the registrar of voters office in their areas for information.
