A.R. “Ray” Waguespack, 84, a native of St. James, La., and resident of Napoleonville, La., died Friday, July 1, 2011.


Mr. Waguespack was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. He was a member of the Aircraft Carriers Sailors Association, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Waguespack; daughters, Kathy (Wayne) Blanchard, Celeste (Tommy) Cancienne, Rachael (Mark) Landry, Anne (Scott) Toloudis, Mary (David) Guidry and Sandy Waguespack; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaston Sr. and Martha Waguespack; stepmother Conelia Waguespack; brothers, Minor, Lloyd, Vernon, Lawrence, Daniel and Gaston Waguespack Jr.; and sister, Dorothy Waguespack.

Burial was at St. Philomena Catholic Church Cemetery in Labadieville, La. (Landry’s)
