Agnes Sylvester Gray, 78, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011.


Mrs. Gray was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.


She is survived by her daughters, Rutha (Julius Sr.) Boyd, Monalita (Ronald) Poindexter and Demetris (Dontae) Nelson; sons, Arthur Sr. (Valerie), Lawrence (Dauphine), Linton (Diane), Robert (Gazelle), Odell (Jessica) and Christopher (Tarylon) Gray; brother, Arthur Sr. (Martha) Sylvester; 19 grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 24 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Gray Sr.; parents, Alfred Sr. and Earline Sylvester; sons, Jessie and Andre Gray; daughters, Sherry and Tameka Gray; brothers, Alfred Jr., Walter Sr., Willie Sr., Audrey and Frank Sylvester, Steve Lee and Rev. Alexis Livingston; sisters, Dorothy Gray, Enola Thomas, Mildred Sylvester, Isabella Miller and Sedonia Hogan; and grandchildren Donnie and Latece Gray, Marquise Smith, Bernard Taylor and Theal Matthews.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Raceland with services to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Kennedy)
