Alcide A. Callais, 92, a native and resident of Cut Off, La., died at 8:54 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012.


Mr. Callais was a U.S. Navy veteran, volunteer fireman, and member of the American Legion and Holy Name Society. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off.


He is survived by his son, Richard (Phyllis) Callais; daughter, Frances (Wallace) Smith; brothers, Harold, Earl and Edwin Callais; sister, Gloria Curole; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Callais; parents, Forest and Eva Callais; daughter, Susan Callais; brothers, Whitney, Guy, Forest Jr. and Charlston Callais; and sisters, Lucille Cheramie, Lillian Curole, Hilda Callais and Elsie Terrebonne.

Burial was at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
