Thibodaux church finds its place after 10-year expansion

Alta “Polly” Pauline Gant Brown, 86, a native of Republic, Kan., and resident of Houma, La., died at 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010.


Mrs. Brown was a member of Bayou Blue United Methodist Church. She was a retired clerical, drafting and planning assigner from South Central Bell Telephone Company, and a member of the Telephone Pioneer family campers. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and needlepoint.


She is survived by her husband, Allen Tyron Brown; sons, Douglas (Barbara) and William (Earline) Brown; daughters, Mrs. Sandra Pitre, Susan Fox, Carolyn Trimble and Mrs. Deborah (Butch) Buchenau; brother, George (Gerry) Gant; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Freda Olive Trimmer Gant; and brothers, Ivol and Harold Gant.

She is buried at Rogers Cemetery.
