Alton Henry Detiveaux, 79, a native of Bourg, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, January 08, 2008, at 6:15 a.m.


He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie LaJaunie Detiveaux; four daughters, Ellen Ledet, Janis LeBoeuf, Evelyn McElroy, and Pam Spence; two brothers, Donald and Allen Detiveaux; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph George and Violet Chauvin Detiveaux; one son-in-law, Melvin Ledet; five brothers, Irving, Rufus, Leslie, Charles and A.J.; and one sister, Georgia Martin.


Alton was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church. He also served in the Army during World War II, was a member of the VFW, and a past member of the Lions Club.

Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Foundation.

Visitation is Thursday, January 10, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Chapel and Friday, January 11, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church with the funeral to follow. He will be buried in the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
