Gov.’s wife joins effort to build Gray Habitat home

Amoron Randolph Blakeman, 91, a native of Morgan City, La., and a resident of Gibson, La., and Sevierville, Tenn., died Monday, May 10, 2010.


Mr. Blakeman was a retired chief engineer for Sioux City Barge Lines. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, he was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon and Good Conduct and Victory medals during World War II. Mr. Blakeman was a president of the Ostomy Association. He regularly counseled people with cancer.


He is survived by sons, Daniel (Betty), Ernest (Lou) and David (Linda) Blakeman; daughter, Rhonda Harper; brothers, James “Chutt,” Timothy, Jessie and Frank Blakeman; sister, Ramona Crochet; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is buried at Bayou Black Cemetery.
