Amy Vegas Bruce, 97, a native and resident of Cut Off, La., died Thursday, May 14, at 8:45 a.m.


She is survived by two sons, Eura Bruce Sr. and wife, Dorita, and Norbert Bruce; one daughter-in-law, Janice R. Bruce; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Octave Bruce Sr.; her parents, Raphael and Leontine Vegas; one son, Octave Bruce Jr.; one daughter-in-law, Angela Bruce; four brothers; and five sisters.

She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of Sacred Heart Ladies Altar Society and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 15, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano, La. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off, La. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
