Ann “Anniepoo” Hunt Breeding, 73, a native of Houston, TX., passed into eternal rest at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2007.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at First United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray, LA.


She is survived by three sons, Steven Breeding and wife, Patty, of Boutte, LA., Warren Patrick Breeding and wife, Debby, of East Granby, Conn., and James Breeding and wife, Tiffany, of Houston; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother, Alan Hunt and wife, Kathy, of Rosenburg, TX.


She was preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 50 years, William “Bill” Breeding; and her parents, Jim and Martha Hunt.

She was director of Les Belles Clochettes Handbell Choir of Houma’s First Methodist Church. She graduated from Houston’s Milby High School and the University of Texas at Austin. In Houston, she performed choral works on radio, TV and civic functions with the Milby Sextette and was president of the Greater Houston/Harris County Girl Scout Council, for whom she spent three summers on archeological digs at Santa Fe, N.M. She has resided in Texas, Washington, Montana, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Maine, North Carolina, Spain, Nigeria, El Salvador, Libya and traveled extensively throughout England, Europe, Africa and Central America.

She was the 1986 Louisiana Area Chairman of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. She directed handbell choirs in Slidell and Houma, Victoria, Texas, Fife and Seattle, Wash., and Madrid, Spain. Her handbell choir performed at the 1984 World’s Fair in New Orleans. She also was director of the Bayou Belles, a ladies community chorus of Slidell and sang in the municipal civic chorus of Victoria and Slidell. She was a member of Phi Mu social sorority, PEO philanthropic sorority, United Methodist Women’s society and served in numerous Methodist activities groups.

A retired physical-education teacher, she taught in Texas and Georgia, was coach of the Richmond Academy Girl’s High School Basketball team in Augusta, Ga., and various teams in the Slidell youth sports and AAU programs.
