Antoine Ernest Gravois, 98, a native and resident of Vacherie, La. died Monday, October 22, 2007, at 4:00 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Reulet Gravois; four sons, Aubrey Gravois and his wife Mary Ellen, Eugene Gravois and his wife Marie, Ernest Gravois and his wife Lynn, and Dean Gravois and his wife Maria; five daughters, Linda Chenier, Iris Loup and her husband F.J., Rosalie Hymel and her husband Carrol, Rose Marie Hymel and her husband Allen, and Aimee Simon and her husband Denis; one sister, Therese Oubre; 32 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Antoine and Bertha Rodrigue Gravois; one infant daughter, Lucille Grace Gravois; one son-in-law, Antoine Chenier, Jr.; one grandson, Stephen Chenier, Sr.; one granddaughter, Arlene Chenier; five brothers, Louis, Joseph, Leonard, Paul, and Augustine Gravois; and six sisters, Aline Rodrigue, Marie Falgoust, Elise Becnel, Angelle Steib, Henrietta Gravois, and Claire Hirsch.
“The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing.” Antoine was truly blessed.
Visitation is Thursday, October 25, 2007, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie. He will be buried in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Hospices of Bayou Region, 905 Canal Blvd., Thibodaux, La. 70301.
