Armond Barb Ray Oncale Jr., 77, a native of Thibodaux, La., and resident of Gheens, La., died Sunday, March 9, 2014.


Mr. Oncale was an entrepreneur who worked in the baking industry for most of his life. He began his career at the Mrs. Carl’s Bakery in Raceland, La., and owned Best Bakery in Houma, La., for many years. He worked for the Houma Daily Courier until his retirement. He was a fun-loving and carefree person who loved his family and always enjoyed a good family get together.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Oncale; daughter, Tammy Trant; son, Blane Oncale; sister, Audrey Hailey; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Armond and Bernadette Oncale; son, Ron Oncale; brothers, Charles Ray, Wally and Galeon Oncale; and sister, Verna Virgillio.


Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gheens with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at Resurrection Memorial Park Cemetery in Raceland. (Falgout)
