Armond J. Knight Sr., 72, a native of Mathews, La., and a resident of Raceland, La., died Saturday, Oct. 3, at 3:30 a.m.


He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Knight; two sons, Armond J. Knight Jr. and wife Kelly Knight, and Eric Blaine Knight and wife Patricia Knight; two daughters, Denise LeBoeuf and husband Kirklin LeBouef, and Jennifer Grabert and husband James Grabert; two brothers, Phillip G. “JV” Knight and Adam J. Knight; two sisters, Rose Alford and Willamae Falgout; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam E. Knight and Alexadrine Thibodeux Knight; one brother, Simon Knight; and four sisters, Rita Laborde, Doris Zeller, Peggy Knight and Catherine Theriot.


He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the VFW, American Legion and Air Force Sergeants Association. His hobbies included playing golf.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) Organization.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at St. Mary Nativity Church Cemetery in Raceland.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
