Betsy Ann Michel, 70, a native and resident of Houma, La., entered into eternal life following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer Friday, Sept. 25.


She is survived by one daughter, Tara Coleman; two sons, Saul Coleman and Shawn Coleman and wife Laura; mother, Lucy Marcel Michel; four brothers, Paul Michel Jr., Joseph Michel, Larry Michel and David Michel; five sisters, Diana Michel, Paulette Hutt, Lucy Thibodeaux, Deborah Soudelier and Patricia Whatley; and four grandchildren, Vicki, Douglas, Danae and Reagan Coleman.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Michel Sr.


She retired from Bellsouth after 30 years of service then worked at Castalano’s and Books-A-Million. She was a past member of the Eastern Stars and the Krewe of Hyacinthians. She will be remembered as a positive, loving person with a great smile and a wonderful zest for life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

A celebration of life memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
