Betty Stallone Grimes, 73, a native of Natchez, Miss., and died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010.


Mrs. Grimes attended Cathedral High School in Natchez. She completed Beauty School, married, then moved to Houma, La. She was a full-time homemaker, an amazing seamstress and excellent cook. She was so humble and selfless, always caring more for the needs of others than her own. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together and have visited places all over the world. She valued family and was very involved in genealogy. She especially looked forward to seeing her many dear friends at her weekly “play day”. Betty will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and she will live on in the hearts of her family forever.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh Russell Grimes Sr.; son, H. Russell “Rusty” (Darlene) Grimes Jr.; daughters, Teresha “Tee” (Mke) Bonvillain, Alesha “Lee” Miller and Glenda (Miles) Matt; brother, Meno (Freda) Stallone Jr.; 11 grandchildren, Scott (Rondia) Bonvillain, Melanie (Jeremy) Frierson, Amanda and Jessica Miller, Lauren and James Grimes, and Christopher (Stacey), Jason (Lauren), Steven, Rebecca and Catherine Matt; and three great-grandchildren, Audrey, Jude and Ashley Matt.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary B. and Meno J. Stallone Sr.; and sisters, Mary Ann (Ollie Sr.) Reed and Ethel (Henry Sr. “Doc”) Mancuso.

Serving as pallbearers were Scott Bonvillain, James Grimes, Christopher Matt, Jason Matt, Steven Matt and Jeremy Frierson.

She is buried at New Hope Cemetery in Carthage, Miss.
