Bevelyn Richard Himel, 73, a native of Labadieville, La. and resident of Houma, La. died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at 12:10 p.m.


She is survived by her husband, L.A. Himel, Jr.; two sons, Louis Himel III and his wife Marie and Jean Himel and his wife Chastity; two daughters, Laura Cancienne and her husband Harold and Myrthe McElroy and her husband Wayne; one brother, Kenneth Richard; one sister, Claudine Mosier; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Lucy May Richard and Sylvester and Florence Pennison; her daughter, Michelle; and two brothers, Marvin and Gerald Richard.

Bevelyn was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Houma. She was a loving wife to her husband L.A. for 55 years.

Visitation is Friday, December 14, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church and Bayou Region Hospice on Corporate Drive in Houma.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
