Carlbertha Thomas, 90, a native of Labadieville, La., and a resident of Napoleonville, La., died Friday, Feb. 29, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.


She is survived by her daughters, Edna Mae, Ruby Lee, Marion, Bernadine, Lillie Mae, Beverly Ann and Angela Yvette; sons, Warren, Lionel, Vernell and Eric Jerome; sister, Neomi Chambliss; 35 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Thomas; parents, Alfred and Missouri Cheatham; sisters, Aldena Forbes, Ethel Lawrence, Aletha Cheatham, Edna Porter, Beatrice Martin, Ruby Joseph, Lottie Burrell and Frances Brown; brothers, Alfred Jr., James and Lester Cheatham; daughter, Debra Ann Thomas; and grandchildren, Terrance Thomas and Daphney Diggs.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Williams & Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. Mark Baptist Church in Labadieville. Rev. Melvin Mead and Pastor Lloyd Jones will officiate at the service. She will be buried at the church cemetery.

She was a homemaker.
