Carroll J. Morvant, 92, a native of St. John Community, La., and a resident of Raceland, La., with deepest love and heartfelt memories was sent by his family to his eternity in paradise, Sunday, July 26.


He is survived by two sons, C. Mark Morvant and wife Emily, and Jody David Morvant; one daughter, Gwen Morvant McInnis; one brother, Warren Morvant; five grandchildren, Stephanie McInnis Arceneaux and husband David, Jacob Morvant McInnis and wife Nichole, Will Patrick McInnis, J. David Morvant Jr. and Thomas Carroll Morvant; four great-grandchildren, Jack David Arceneaux, Noah John Arceneaux, Sarah Anne Arceneaux and Jake Ryan McInnis; and special family members, Reyne, Lee and Justin Porche.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Zeringue Morvant; parents, Jean Robert Morvant and Leoncia “Lucia” Leonard Morvant; three brothers, Andrew, Charleston and Clarence Morvant; two sisters, Mae Gaubert and Jeanette Morvant; two half brothers, J. Robert Morvant and Harold Morvant; and three half sisters, Paulina Flandry, Viola Francione and Edna Caillouet.

He served as a TEC 5 in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and earned a Bronze Star. He worked at the U.S. Postal Service in Thibodaux for 35 years and Nicholls State University for 12 years.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Landry’s Funeral Home and 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at St. Mary the Nativity Church in Raceland. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux, La.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
