September 26, 2018Charles Pershing Winder, Jr., 71, passed away peacefully September 17, 2018 at 4:48pm in Houma, Louisiana.
Charlie was born on August 19, 1947 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. A graduate of Nicholls State University, he served as First Lieutenant in the Army Aviation Corps and in the Vietnam War before returning to Louisiana to raise his family and work in sales. He was a devoted husband and father to his three daughters.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Janelee Winder; mother, Grace Jean Winder; children, Meredith Ledet and husband Ben, and their children, Matthew and Kathryn; Candace Benoit and husband Bruce, and their daughter Emma; Melissa Hughes and husband David, and their children Charlotte and Alexander; sister, Carol Thomas; and mother-in-law, Janelee Guidry.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his honor.
