Chester Anthony Crochet, 78, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident, of Houma, La., died Tuesday, August 4, at 6:40 a.m.


He is survived by his wife, Gladys Crochet; two sons, Allen and wife Tonia Crochet, Dwayne and wife Nichole Crochet, all of Houma; two daughters, Ellen Henry and husband Magnus, and Karen Crochet, all of Houma; one brother, Carroll Crochet of Houma; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Crochet and Eula Dupre Crochet; one brother, Gerald Crochet; and one sister, Gail Crochet.

He was a heavy equipment operator for IUOE. He was Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 6, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
