Clarence “Speedy” Joseph DeRoche, Sr., 77, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, March 29, 2010.


A man of many trades, Mr. DeRoche was a member of Annunziata Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later served as a member of the St. Mary sheriff’s water patrol, chamber of commerce and National Homebuilder’s Association.

He is survived by his wife, Delores “Dee” Rhodes DeRoche; sons, Clarence “C.J.” Jr. and Barry (Jackie) DeRoche, and Prentiss “Sonny” (Debbie) Freeman III; daughters, Bonnie (Ordis “Buddy” III) Smith, Dawn (David) Henry, Susan (Wayne) Vowell; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Crochet DeRoche and Ailene DeRoche Fazzio; and pet, Buffy.

He is buried at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery.
