Cleon “Shorty” Wallis Sr., 90, a native of Gibson, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.


He is survived by his sons, Clarence Cannon, and Ronald, Garyland and Craig Wallis; daughters, Carolyn Ford, Patricia Richard, and Mona, Ophelia and Joann Wallis; sister, Helen Verret; 29 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Wallace Wallis; parents, Abraham L. and Effie Short Wallis; sons, Cleon Jr. and Gregory Wallis; brothers, Abraham, Lilton, Solomon and Claude Wallis; and sisters, Ruth Evans, Laverne Sims, and Thelma, Mary, Effie and Nola Wallis.


He was Baptist and a retired warehouse supervisor for Gemco Oil and Tool Company.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Pleasant View Baptist Church with burial at St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
