Darius Jaleel “Dew Dew” Stewart, 17, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Gibson, La., died Tuesday, Oct. 6, due to a car accident.
He is survived by his father, Patrick Ward Sr. of Houma, La.; mother and step-father, Roxanne Stewart Bailey and Andrew Bailey II of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, LeTroyia Stewart and DaeJonay Anderson of Atlanta, and Passion Ward of Houma; three brothers, Patrick P. Ward, Chaz Ward and Payton Ward of Houma; grandparents, Betty Jean Pharr of Gibson, Joseph Stewart of Gibson, and Vera and Lionel Ward of Houma; and great-grandparent, Rosetta Stewart of Gibson.
He was preceded in death by his step-grandfather, Lawrence Givens Sr.; great-grandparents, Elton Pharr Sr., Josephine D. Garrett. Mary Jane Sandolph and Roosevelt Stewart Sr.; and great-great-grandparents, Wilmer and Chestnola Diggs.
He was a student at H.L. Bourgeois High School.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Beaulah Baptist Church in Gibson with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Church of Christ Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
