Jail woes continue in Lafourche Parish with tax on hold – for now

Donald Drexler, 53, a native of Glencoe, La., and resident of Houston, Texas, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011.


Mr. Drexler enjoyed painting in which he was very crafty with his hands. He loved basketball, especially the Houston Rockets, as well as several other teams. His personality attracted many people. His most passionate hobby was outdoor grilling in which he was also known as the “BBQ Champ”. Still to this day his secret barbeque sauce remains unknown.


He is survived by his daughters, Chasity (Carmichael) Paul, Melanie (Ronald) Lumpkin and Latisha Drexler; brothers, Irving Jr. (Magdalene) and Charles Drexler; sisters, Beverly Spencer, Brenda and Barbara Drexler, Cheryl (Harold) Broussard and Gail (Wallace) Lancelin; uncles, Clarence, Harold and Charles Drexler, and Gilbert Bryant; godmother, Alfaretta Broussard; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Irving Drexler Sr.; brother, Craig Drexler; and nephew, Gary Paul Drexler.

He is buried at St. Helen Cemetery. (Jones)
