Donald Earl Peterson, 83, a resident of Broussard, La., died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011.


Mr. Peterson was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and dedicated 33 years of service to Exxon until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising horses and spending time with his family.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mercedes Peterson; daughters, Donna (Roland) Duhon, Terry (Rickie) McClinton and Tracey Peterson; brother, Earl Peterson; sister, Faye Wise; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Lydia Peterson; and brothers, Karl, Charles Jr. and Harold Peterson.

Interment was at Franklin Cemetery. (Ibert’s)
