Donna Dryden McElroy, 43, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, February 8, 2008 at 12:45 p.m.


She is survived by her loving husband, Danny McElroy; her mother Diane King Dryden and father Jack Dryden; brothers, Fritz Dryden and wife Denise, Bret Dryden and wife Allison, Mark Dryden and wife Gail; sisters, Dana Poiencot and husband Andrew, Dena Roy and husband Mark; nieces Jennifer Dryden, Lindsey Dryden, Kayla Dryden and Megan Roy; nephews, Brandon Dryden, Chad Dryden, Blake Dryden, Beaux Poiencot, Hunter Poiencot, Dylan Poiencot, Cody Dryden and Chase Dryden; 2 great nieces, Kenleigh Dryden and Leila Bent; four godchildren, Alayna Dryden, Holly Dryden, Shelby Antil and Hayley Roy.


She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Vernal and Hazel Marcel King, Wallace and Alice Klingman Dryden; aunts, Susan King and Nancy Jones; uncles, Eroll King and Fletcher Dryden; beloved father-in-law, Fay McElroy Sr.; and her cherished pet Rosco.

Donna was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and friend. Although she suffered greatly with muscular sclerosis, she never let it get in the way of living her life. She always took care of everyone around her and enjoyed sharing happy memories with old and new friends. Her beautiful smile and contagious laughter brought out the best in those around her. Donna was always courageous and a fighter until the end. Her will to live was inspiring to all and she will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2008, with a memorial service to follow at First United Methodist Church in Houma.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
