Dr. Harold Dupuy, Ph. D, a World War II veteran, retired research chemist for the Southern Regional Research Center and the USDA, and a retired research professor for the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University died on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Dr. Dupuy, 94, was a native of Gheens, LA, and long-time resident of Metairie, LA. He spent his final days at the Suites of Sugar Mill Pointe in Houma, LA.


Born on September 10, 1922, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Dupuy, the brother of the late Norman, Roy and Lawrence Dupuy, the uncle of the late Lawrence Dupuy, Jr., and the godfather of the late John Parr. Dr. Dupuy is survived by his sister Gertrude Parr, four nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews and their children. Dr. Dupuy is also survived by the wife of his late godson John Parr, Charlotte Parr. Charlotte cared for Dr. Dupuy when his health began to decline several years ago. Dr. Dupuy entrusted Charlotte with his affairs.
