Dr. Wade L. Ledet, 74, a retired Dean of University College at Nicholls State University, a native of Larose, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, March 19, at 2:59 a.m.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice R. Ledet; his sisters, Melvina Hunter and Emalda St. Pierre; and a host of nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylves and Elizza Ledet.

He was a past president of the Lafourche Teacher’s Association, a past president of the Lafourche Retired Teacher’s Association, a past president of the Louisiana Retired Teacher’s Association District #2, a past vice president of the Louisiana Retired Teacher’s Association, and acting president of the Louisiana Retired Teacher’s Association. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and belonged to many volunteer committees for the church and community. He served with the U.S. Air Force. He was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, wine, cigars and travel.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off, La., with a Mass of Christian burial to follow. He will be buried at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Homes of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
