Dudley “Captain Dud” J. Callais Sr., 78, a native of Galliano, La., and resident of Larose, La., died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Lady of the Sea General Hospital.


Mr. Callais was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.


He is survived by his wife, Judy Pierce Williams Callais; daughters, Joy (Glenn) Rousse and Sharon (Carroll) Evans; sons, Dudley (Pam) Callais Jr. and Raymond Jr., Dean (Lori) and Edward (Becky) Williams; nine grandchildren, Kristy (Rhett) Monier, Keri Rousse, Rayah Williams, Lee Callais, Brody Williams, Jake Williams, Alaina Evans, Logan Williams and Alex Williams; one great-grandchild, Rory Monier; brothers, Junius, Dickie and Andrew Callais Jr.; and sisters, Mae Esponge, AnnaJane Danos, LouAnn Laseur and Mary Musa.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Cadiere Callais; parents, Andrew Sr. and Elodie Callais; brother, George Callais; sister, Velma Lackey; and one grandchild, Brennan Williams.

Mr. Callais is buried at Our Lady of the Rosary Church Cemetery in Larose.
