E.J. Cortez Jr., 79, a native of Des Allemands, La., and a resident of Dubberly, died Saturday, December 27.
He is survived by one son, Ernest Cortez III; three step-sons, Stanley Foster, Richard Foster and Lane Foster; two brothers, Justilien Cortez and Jerry Cortez; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Cortez; parents, Ernest Cortez Sr. and Bernadette Grabert Cortez; and one sister, Earline Ledet.
He was a member of the Des Allemands Lions Club, the American Legion and the Des Allemands Volunteer Fire Department.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Mennonite Church in Des Allemands with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
